The Medpage MP5 was first introduced in 1996 and continues to be a market leader due to its uncomplicated method of operation and sensible pricing. Easylink UK employ trained service engineers who offer technical support, in house maintenance and repairs.

Choosing the appropriate model

Generally, if the monitor is required for home use or in a one-to-one care situation in a care or nursing home, the MP5 in most cases is suitable. The MP5, supplied with two radio pagers offers a flexible solution for convulsive seizure detection. For milder seizure types, the required level of movement can be compared to shivering on a cold day.

If the monitor is for a child, you must understand that there is a sensible minimum weight advice (not applicable to the Medpage ST-1). 56 lbs. (25.40Kg). If the child sleeps in a standard single bed, it is recommended to opt for a second bed sensor. Children do tend to move around the bed during sleep. The second bed sensor will help spread sensor coverage over the bed.

Seizure types that will be detected

The Medpage is designed to detect Tonic-Clonic (Grand Mal) seizure types only. That is, during the seizure there must be convulsions (shaking or jerking movements). Any other seizure types such as partial or absence seizures without movement would not be detected.

METHOD OF DETECTION AND MAIN FEATURES

The Medpage (all models except the ST-1) is equipped with a movement sensor that is positioned between the bed base and mattress. The sensor has an adjustable level control with a movement detect confirmation LED. A further control, delay, is used to minimize false alarms caused by normal movements during sleep. Using these controls it is possible to fine-tune operation of the monitor to suit most bed types and convulsive seizure types. A built in microphone can be used to detect grunting or groaning sounds that sometimes precede a seizure from adult males. Again, an adjustable sensitivity control allows the correct level to be set. NOTE: when ordering a second bed sensor the built in microphone function is lost.

Bed seizure alarm Model MP5 - A bed monitor suitable for domestic use, residential care and respite care. A simple to use monitor that detects bedtime convulsive seizures then transmits an alarm signal to an alarm pager.

Bed seizure alarm Model MP2 - A bed monitor suitable for domestic use, hospitals, nursing & care homes. For monitoring multiple patients with Epilepsy with choice of pagers or nurse station desktop alarms to indicate the active seizure monitor. Can be combined with other products such as a fall alarm or help signal key fob transmitter

MEDPAGE MP6 - For the detection and alarm of nocturnal convulsive seizers for multiple bed seizure monitors. The MP6 can integrate with our wireless nurse call system, and has outputs for connection to a telephone auto dialler for remote alarm. Built in audio beeper alarm, seizure detected LED, alarm operative LED, reset button.

Automatic fall (FAS-1) alarm with telephone auto dialler - when a person falls, the alarm signal is transmitted automatically after a short delay. A telephone auto dialler then begins calling your own stored emergency contact numbers automatically.
