Bye Bye Standby, available as a kit with three 4amp mains socket controllers or as individual components. High power 13amp socket switches also available.
What is it?
The kit is supplied with a radio signal remote control that can switch on and off mains powered appliances such as TV’s, VCR’s, Sky boxes, table lamps, fans, computers and Hi Fi systems (up to four separate socket switches). All of the appliances above usually have a standby function for remote control switch off. When an appliance is in standby it still consumes up to 25% of full power costing you money for nothing. By using this system, mains power is cut to the appliance plugged into the socket adaptor. The remote control power switches use miniscule power when in standby mode so significant savings on power can be made.
The remote control power switches are extremely useful especially when an appliance may be plugged into a mains point behind furniture. The remote control supplied with the kit can be set to control individual sockets or all three altogether. Switch on or off lamp lights from your armchair.
A battery powered (3 x AAA) PIR movement detector with built transmitter can be used with the remote socket switches. With a lamp plugged into one of the socket switches, the PIR can be set to detect a person entering a room or badly lit area where the light switch may be some distance away. The PIR can be set to only activate when light levels are low. You can also adjust the time the lamp stays on for. After the required time-on, the PIR automatically sends a signal to switch the socket off. This function can be useful in children’s rooms or the elderly who may be at risk from falls in a darkened room.
If a kit is not required, a simple on-off key fob transmitter can be purchased to use with the required number of mains socket switches. The key fob can remotely switch appliances at distances up to 35M through walls.
To avoid interference from other users who may have a similar system living close by, a simple rotary dial code allows you to set your own unique code.
