The Fire Centurion was designed in 1989 and was the first wireless smoke detection system for deaf people. Wireless? Traditionally, smoke alarms for deaf people consist of a smoke detector that is linked to an alarm box with wire. The Fire Centurion uses Hi-Tech wireless signalling to enable the smoke detector to wirelessly operate the alarm receiver in the deaf persons bedroom. A powerful vibrating disk is positioned in the bed under the pillow. Additionally, a bright xenon flashing strobe light operates when signaled by the smoke detector. The effect of the vibration and flashing light disturb the user from sleep.

Transmitter specification: (Ionisation detectors) Battery powered 9 VOLT Lithium 10 year battery. Transmitter frequency 433.92 mHz. Range 100M, low battery and fault signal warning transmitted to alarm receiver. Dip switch transmitter encoding allows user to configure multiple detectors with single alarm receivers, or to add additional receivers as required.
